Irwin Solutions is a sole proprietorship operated by Brett Irwin in Edmonton, Alberta. This page explains what information is collected, why, and how to stop hearing from me. It's written to be read, not to be survived.
To stop receiving email from me, reply to any message with the word "unsubscribe" — one word is enough, you don't need to explain — or email brettirwin@irwin-solutions.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line.
Requests are actioned as soon as I see them and always within 10 business days, as required under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation. Your address is added to a permanent suppression list so it isn't contacted again.
If I've contacted you, it's because your business is publicly listed as operating in a trade or home service category in Alberta, and the address I used was published on your own website or public business listing. Under CASL, a business email address published without a statement restricting unsolicited messages, where the message relates to that person's role or business, falls under implied consent. Every message I send carries my business name, mailing address, phone number, and the unsubscribe instruction above.
Emails I send may include a small tracking pixel that tells me whether a message was opened, and when. This is standard email software (Mailsuite, formerly Mailtrack) and is used for one purpose only: knowing whether it's worth following up. It does not read your replies, access your mailbox, or identify anyone but the recipient of that specific message. If you'd rather not be tracked, most email clients let you block remote images, which disables it entirely.
This site is a static page hosted on GitHub Pages. It sets no advertising cookies and runs no analytics or tracking scripts. Information reaches me only when you choose to send it:
I use your information to reply to you, to prepare for and follow up on our conversation, and to deliver work if we end up working together. That's the entire list. I don't sell, rent, or trade contact information, and I don't share it with anyone outside the tools I need to run the business — email, calendar, and scheduling software.
Contact details are kept while there's an active or plausible business conversation, and cleared out when there isn't. Records tied to paid work are kept for the period Canadian tax rules require. Suppression list entries are kept permanently — that's the only way to guarantee you aren't contacted again.
Under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act and Canada's PIPEDA, you can ask what information I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email me and I'll action it — no forms, no process. If you're not satisfied with how I've handled it, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
